Jewel is a global strategist. She serves on staff at The Church Without Walls, in Houston, TX as the Pastoral Assistant to Dr. Ralph D. West, Pastor/Founder. There, she supports Dr. West by giving leadership to the Clergy, Diaconate, Liturgy, Ordinances, Special Projects, Transitional Teams, and preaching and teaching. Jewel has led these leaders through numerous ministry initiatives designed to undergird the vision of the Pastor, to build momentum and encourage ministry development while ministering to the needs of this congregation of over 12,000 families.

Jewel traveled for years ministering to women in prison, close custody, and death row. She is a founding board member of the Texas Baptist Women in Ministry, served on the national leadership team for the National Baptist Women in Ministry, and has been an advocate for women in ministry for more than 20 years. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Houston Metropolitan Baptist Ministers Conference, the Governance Board for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, IC3 Church Growth & Development Conference North America & Africa, and the Baylor University George W. Truett Theological Seminary African American Preaching Conference.

A perpetual student, Jewel has matriculated and lectured in a number of colleges and universities as well as theological studies including the E.K. Bailey Expository Preaching Conference, Calvary Theological Seminary, George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Proclaimers Place – Regent’s Park College at the University of Oxford; The American University of Paris; Institutuo Maria Santissima Bambina in Vatican City, Rome; and Leucorea University in Wittenberg, Germany.

Her sermons and reflective writings are featured in nationally published works – Oxford Sermons Vol III, This is What a Preacher Looks Like, and What We Love About the Black Church.

What is her desire?

Simply…to save the lost…offer hope to the hopeless…healing and restoration to those who are broken.
